ANOTHER ATTACK ON ROME

846 AC
When the Arabs struck rome, the raiders seem to have known about Rome's special treasures. Some of its basilicas, like St. Peter and Saint Paul were outside the walls, were easy targets. The most valuable of them were the golden cross on the tomb of Petrus and the silver table donated by Charlemagne to the church. The result was pillaged surroundings of the city and the two holy shrines. Nothing points to an Arab trying to get into the city, but the Romans obviously defended the walls, while people around Saint Peter tried to resist, but were defeated. Then, an army passing by, headed by Lombard Duke Guy, attacked the Arabs, scaring them away.
