By 218 BC Rome controlled all of Italy. A Country in North Africa called Carthage was jealous of Rome. Hannibal was a Carthaginian military Commander who was known as one of the beat commanders in History. He started preparing to defeat Rome. Hannibal crossed the Alps with his army and on the way he lost about half his troops to the cliffs. Rome soon defeated Hannibal.
